Why are menstrual cramps so common? Alicia Mazari

What is happening that these painful cramps are becoming more common? Sadly, it is not just a simple question to answer, as multiple factors contribute to these cramps.

Has it ever happened to you, or did it happen to you, that menstrual cramps are painful? It happened to me, every month. And I found that, just by taking a pill, the pain stopped, which, in fact, only lasted a couple of hours.

What nobody told me at the time is that menstrual cramps are not normal. In fact, menstrual cramps shouldn't happen.

Now, I see teenagers and adults in a lot of pain, and it’s not just a couple of hours, and sometimes even with the "magic pill" it is still happening. Sometimes they are several days, even before, during the pre-menstrual syndrome, which are not only cramps, but other symptoms, like headaches.

To think that “here it comes"  or that "it's going to be painful and I'm not going to feel good" is not pleasant at all. Many people suffer with this month after month.

🟠 What does my lifestyle have to do with this?

For starters, let's think of the menstrual cycle as something that happens once a month.  It's a "like cleansing.” Something that is affecting our menstrual cycles a lot, is also our circadian rhythm. You would say, my kids are teenagers and don't need to have a sleep schedule. But in fact,  it is super important, that at any age, we achieve a healthy circadian rhythm.  During the night, we have to rest and our body also removes toxins. This happens naturally.

It is also important to understand the effect that food can have.  Menstrual cramping may be due, among other things, to a hormonal imbalance.  Something very common is estrogen dominance.  And why is it so common?  Because simply our food contains more estrogen than before.  It comes from meats, for example, or anything that contains pesticides.  Have you ever wondered; how does this affect my cycle?

Here are 3 simple ideas to reduce pain due to menstrual cramps:

🟠 Work on your circadian rhythm.  Go to sleep and wake up every day at the same time. If possible, have a good routine before you go to sleep.

🟣 Check the quality of your food.  Does it contain estrogen? Look for food that is "as clean as possible."

🟢 Hydrate well during the day, it is a natural way to get rid of toxins, and these can always be the cause of a hormonal imbalance.

The impact of our mindset on our relationship with food and exercise. Idalia Pinto

The importance of identifying what mindset we have regarding what we want to achieve.

We constantly ask ourselves why we do not achieve the results we want, all those dreams we have and many times, even, the opposite happens.

We want to be millionaires, but we think that money is dirty, that those who have a lot of money are because they dedicate themselves to something murky. We want to be healthy and have an ideal weight, but we have the wrong mindset about food and our relationship is unhealthy.

The idea of having a better relationship with food is that you can feel better, improve your health, and even achieve your ideal weight, but without you having to feel restricted or feel that you make sacrifices and generate more stress than you already had.

Remember to balance our cortisol levels. Remember that we must always be aware of keeping our cortisol in balance so it is important to avoid feeling guilty for eating what we think we should not, let's be aware of it.  If you are going to eat it, let it be consciously and without guilt.

All this can be reversed. Changing our mindset, changing how we see food and exercise, reducing stress.

Doing what you do, from a place of love towards you, because we cannot be healthy from a place of unhappiness.

Here are some things you can do to change your mindset:

🟣 We must eat to fuel our body, mind and spirit.  Thinking about dieting definitely doesn't work for you or anyone else.  Better give your heart what it asks for, and your body what it needs.

🟠 Our body is always monitoring how much energy it has and if it needs it, will start asking for food, and this is not natural. So when you eat fewer calories and exercise more, your body is obviously going to ask for food urgently.  When we are hungry, we become irritable and moody.

We cannot think well and make appropriate decisions. Being in a bad mood, we almost always crave sweet things, in addition, and of course, we run to assault the refrigerator, sabotaging our diet. And give an example of these habits to our children.

Promise not to do this to yourself again and not to try a diet again.  It's much easier to eat healthily, take your JP+ capsules and be happy.

🟢 Be aware of what we eat when:

  • Turn off your TV
  • Create a suitable space to feel calm and present at mealtime

The idea is to achieve awareness of what to eat, how much to eat, and why I am eating what I am eating. This way we will be more aware of what foods I can eat to really nourish my body. And thus, avoid what makes my body feel bad.

Remember that:

🟣 Exercise is a gift, not a punishment.  Use gratitude to get your body moving because it's a gift.

🟠 Change your language, instead of saying I have to, say I want to go for a run.

🟢 Find the movement that amuses you, the one that makes you connect with your children or with your partner. If you don't enjoy it, don't do it.  Always remember what you are doing this for. To nourish your body, the one you love. Choose exercises that free you from stress such as dance, yoga, pilates, etc.

🟣 Avoid judging yourself, always be compassionate to yourself, do not punish yourself, tell yourself what you would say to your best friend, exercise the muscle of self-love.

Let's focus on nurturing and loving our body, and not on body image. Nowadays that is a big problem especially in teenagers, this causes stress. Teens who diet are 18 times more likely to lead to an eating disorder. Let's lead by example and use this energy that we put into having a good body image elsewhere, such as thinking, creating, or doing things that bring us happiness.

We can get rid of this mindset, changing it for self-love, to enjoy food, to enjoy exercise and enjoy our life in general, listen to our body ALWAYS.

🟠 The question is who do I have to be to achieve "X" (fill in the space)?

The importance of living in the present. Alicia Mazari

This week I heard this poem and just today I want to share it with you.

It's something that made me realize how living in the present is very important.  If we not only teach it to our children, but model it, I think it would have a positive impact on enjoying the PRESENT.  Above all, live it with joy.

"First, I was dying to finish high school and start college.

And then, I was dying to finish college and start working.

Then, I was dying to get married and have children.

And then I was dying for my children to grow old enough so I could go back to work.

And then I was dying to retire.

And now I'm dying...

And suddenly I realized that I forgot to live."

🟢 What about you? Do you enjoy the present moment? Do your children do that as well?

Or we just keep going into the future without realizing that living IN THE PRESENT is the most important thing.

🟠 The past is over, we cannot change it.  In the future, we don't know what will happen. So why not live the present truly and on purpose, from the heart?
